How does it impact sales? Can I charge more if my product has a highly perceived value? \u00a0<a title=\"sharethismoment\" href=\"http:\/\/sharethismoment.com\/contact\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sharethis<\/a> and\u00a0<a title=\"paley centre\" href=\"http:\/\/www.paleycenter.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paley Centre for Media<\/a>\u00a0conducted a <a href=\"http:\/\/sharethismoment.com\">research stud research sharing behaviour amongst 6,000 consumers<\/a>, that helps answer these questions. It's a piece of companion research to the infographic we shared recently, asking <a href=\"http:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/digital-marketing-strategy\/shopping-activities-using-social-media-infographic\/\">what prompts\u00a0online sales<\/a>? It gives more evidence of the impact of <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Social_proof\">social proof<\/a>\u00a0where social sharing and reviews of products or of a brand as a whole give reassurance to purchasers about buying a product or service. This new research shows that the impact of social proof on retail buys is significant, it concludes that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>'Content sharing can influence consumers more than price and brand, and motivate people to spend 9.5% more', according to the research.'<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>In this research consumers were surveyed, who purchase in\u00a0three categories: automotive, technology and consumer packaged goods.\u00a0Here is a glimpse into the Survey.\u00a0<a title=\"sharethismoment survey\" href=\"http:\/\/sharethismoment.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Return on A Share\u00a0report <\/a>can be downloaded from their website.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key research\u00a0takeways<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>On-line sharing of content impacts consumer spend across the industries, and the survey measured the 'value of worth' by strength and price levels. \u00a0It was prominent in the findings that 'online sharing beat general consumer reviews and ratings across the board' as shown by this chart showing the impact on purchase of an excellent level of social shares.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Value-Of-Share-Sharethisreport.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-36933 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Value-Of-Share-Sharethisreport-550x373.jpg\" alt=\"sharethismomentsurvey value of share\" width=\"550\" height=\"373\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Value-Of-Share-Sharethisreport-550x373.jpg 550w, https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Value-Of-Share-Sharethisreport-150x101.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Value-Of-Share-Sharethisreport-250x169.jpg 250w, https:\/\/www.smartinsights.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/05\/Value-Of-Share-Sharethisreport.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 550px) 100vw, 550px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Positive recommendations can enable companies to charge higher prices. Recommendations from a friend, close family for a store brand and online shares are valued highly and create a greater 'perceived value' by different recommendations.
